The core of the BOB project involved three pilot actions in which a complete performance assessment and benchmarking process were carried out. BOB has acted as a 'laboratory' to test the recommendations produced by the BEST thematic network with particular emphasis on benchmarking criteria and methodologies. The results of the pilots have  been discussed in two workshops within the BEST network, and have been used as input to the recommendations submitted to the European Commission.

During the final BEST Conference (March 2003), the latest developments in all three pilots were presented by the pilot co-ordinators and participants. Presentations can be accessed from the programme of the conference
