Participation in the Citizen's network and follow-up

The Czech Republic actively took part in the EU Citizen's Network Pilot Benchmarking project to which already in 1998 a group of 15 European cities, including Prague, had acceded.

As a follow-up to this project, the experiences obtained were also used in other practical activities in the Czech Republic. In this way, based on the pilot project, the Transport Company of the Capital City of Prague, in co-operation with the Paris RATP, developed the so-called Program of Quality Service in the Transport Company of the City of Prague.

This program has been gradually implemented and has proven beneficial to the travelling public, which was appreciated at the POLIS conference 2000 in Prague. Besides, it has provided insights benefiting projects aimed at improving public transport in a number of other large cities in the Czech Republic.
